Sourav Gayen was born in West Bengal, India. He earned his B.Sc. degree from Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira, Belur Math, in 2017 and his M.Sc. degree from the University of Calcutta in 2019. He completed his Ph.D. at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (2019-2025) under the supervision of Prof. Sundargopal Ghosh. His doctoral research focused on the chemistry of σ-borate complexes and diboranes. In 2025, he joined the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore as a Research Associate under the guidance of Prof. E. D. Jemmis. In 2026, he joined Lund University as a Postdoctoral Researcher with Dr. Anders Reinholdt, focusing on transition metal dinitrogen complexes.
